CD REVIEW: TARANTULA DITCH by Tracy G.

TARANTULA DITCH by Tracy G.
(Spooky G Music)

Tracy G. (WW III/Dio) returns with his latest riff infused creation in the form of, 'Tarantula Ditch'. 11 blistering six string instrumental tracks of the mind blowing kind. Tracy partners with some rock music's most elite guitarist to create one of the most RIFF-intense experiences you want to experience. Great hooks, unbelievable guitar shredding from amazing guitarists that may be unknown by younger listeners. What's really great about this recording is that it will appeal to everyone, as each track stands on its own. Not your typical instrumental recording of blandness. This one is a great listen front to back powered by mind blowing performances by Ninth Circle/Rust guitarist, Dennis Brown on "Tenth Circle", Jimi Bell from House Of Lords on "Jimi's Shred House", Carl Jah from Dread Zeppelin on the fusion mind bending, "The Drastic Jah". As well as smoking performances featuring fellow Dio alumni, Rowan Robertson on "Ever Lasting Rainbow", Mark Kendall from Great White on, "A Blues Day In Hell" and Toshi Hiketa from David Lee Roth/Hideous Sun Demons" on "Vantoshi". Not to get lost in the shredness is bassist, Randy Oviedo laying down some serious grooves. One thing for certain the playing on this recording will grab you by the throat and will not let go! I love the variation in style and feel of each track. Rather than sounding like a self-indulgent shred fest, the musical variations move at different speeds, displaying gorgeous textures and some serious moodiness. I appreciate Tracy's self-restraint in showing off his guest-stars chops and, to my ear, concentrating on developing powerful arrangements. What I love about Tracy G.'s musical vision is his endless inventiveness. His musicality never ceases to progress and surprise me. He proves this point once again here with  a mind blowing listening experience that deserves to be heard and experienced by everyone who loves to hear new music. - Tony @ The Dedicated Rocker Society

CD REVIEW: SCARED TO BREATHE by Trishula

SCARED TO BREATHE by Trishula
(AOR HEAVEN)

Having played in such bands like, TEN, Rage of Angels, Tony Mills (TNT, SHY). Guitarist Neil Fraser unveils his own project, Trishula along with vocalist, Jason Morgan and drummer Jaoa Colaco. The trio's debut release, 'Scared To Breathe' is simply over-the-top and luscious melodic rock at it's finest. This really is a very high energy rock recording. Every detail of the music is amazing! Superbly crafted songs, unbelievable guitar work, soaring vocals, incredible drumming and a perfect production will have has your undivided attention as soon as you press play. Highlights include the awesome chorus hook of the energetic opener "I Can See It In Your Eyes", the massive power of the title track the quality chorus hit of "Secrets & Lies", the intense melodic grooves of "A Love So Cruel" and "Jealousy". Aside from Neil's amazing guitar playing. Kudos have to be given to the killer vocals that Jason Morgan delivers on this record. His singing is incredibly easy on the ears and well suited to this genre of music. The album is strong and cohesive, and it's impossible to think any melodic rock fan wouldn't enjoy this record. If you are familiar with and are a fan of Neil Fraser previous works, as I am, then you'll undoubtedly enjoy this debut outing. This is easily one of the better releases this year so far, and I look forward to more from Trishula is the future. - Tony @ The Dedicated Rocker Society
