CD REVIEW: LIVE IN DENMARK by Blindstone
LIVE IN DENMARK by Blindstone
(Grooveyard Records)
Danish power blues rock trio Blindstone are back with their sixth release, the LIVE recording, 'Live In Denmark'. Martin J. Andersen Guitar & vocals, Jesper Bunk Bass and Anders Hvidtfeldt Drums. The trio hold nothing back and go for the jugular with 11 powerhouse tracks. What you hear and experience is the unvarnished honesty of a true power trio playing their hearts out like there's no tomorrow. Just stellar playing throughout. The ability of the trio to lay out their very soul on these cuts is just mind blowing! Once you press play your senses are immediately stimulated and you feel just how awesome this trio truly are. Blindstone unleash fan favorites with, "Freedom's Calling", "Temple Trippin", "Struck Down By The Blues", "Waste A Little Time On Me" and "Keep The Rock Alive". The trio also serve up four great covers including: Mahogany Rush's "Land Of 1000 Nights", A mind blowing cover of the early Journey song, "Karma". That being said the two cover tunes that impressed me the most were Jimi Hendrix's, "Stone Free" and "Are You Experienced". The power, the soulfulness and the love of each musician here for the music is what makes this powerful live recording unique. If what you want is astonishing musicians improvising and creating jams that make you smile and wonder at the talent that can come from an individual, then get your hands of this album. Blindstone is a great Blues Rock band! Don't be fooled into thinking that they're just another boring jam band, make no mistake, they ROCK! GREAT SONGS! GREAT MUSICIANSHIP! A BAND'S BAND! A no-brainer if you're into smoking blues rock music done right, get this CD now! GREAT BLUES ROCK from an intense and tight live band. - Highly Recommended
