CD REVIEW: SHINE THROUGH by Strange Daze

SHINE THROUGH by Strange Daze
(Pavement Entertainment)

Minneapolis' based rockers Strange Daze breakout onto the music scene with their debut release, 'Shine Through'. Dishing out  a rock edge sound, yet managing to maintain a melodic sensibility to their songs. The band is comprised of,
Eric Moudry (guitars/vocals/primary songwriter), Scott Knudson (vocals/co-lyricist), Chad Armstrong (bass/vocals), and Mike Berg (drums).  Their thirteen song debut is an anthemic collection of modern rock forged in fiery emotional urgency. The album is diverse in its sounds and lyrics. Highlights include, "Satellite Soul", "Need You Here", the driving "Your Love" and the emotion filled, "Welcome / Izabelle' Song". This album is everything I like to hear in a modern day rock album, walls of guitars, melodies, powerful singing, and variety of tempos. Strange Daze accomplishes all of that on this strong debut outing. I have say, after listening to this recording, Strange Daze aren't going anywhere for a while, which is good. Overall, 'Shine Through', certainly does shine and is a strong  album with no filler tracks. I can definitely start at the beginning and listen all the way through without skipping any tracks, which is a rarity these days.
