The Nights is a dynamic Finnish duo formed by two well known members of the melodic rock scene in Finland. Ilkka Wirtanen handles guitars, production, and songwriting and Sami Hyde is on vocals and handles songwriting duties too. On bass, Harri Kokkonen and on drums Jan-Erik Iivari. This debut is packed with songs that are simply amazing combining smooth vocal melodies, great guitars and killer production. The whole album is strong but some highlights include the cracking opening track "Welcome To The Show" the hook laden chorus of "Nothing But Love", the melodic gems, "In A Blink Of An Eye" and "Take Me To Heaven". There are traces of Toto, Journey and Survivor in the musical vibe, but they definitely bring their own flavor to the table and it works brilliantly. The duo give melodic rock fans exactly what they’re craving for, with songs that stick in the ears from the moment you hear them. If melodic rock is your cup of tea trust me, you will dig The Nights. If this is a sign of things to come from The Nights, then count me in as a fan.
